(BROWNSTOWN, IL) — A two vehicle crash claimed the life Thursday of a 47-year-old Brownstown man on Route 40 east. The crash occurred about 6:34 p.m. on RT 40 eastbound 1/4 mile west of county road 1470E. Scott White was attempting to turn into a drive, when a passing east bound pickup driven by Joseph Beshel struck his car in the A pillar area. Both Brownstown and Vandalia Fire departments were dispatched to the scene. White was transported to Fayette County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen. The crash remains under investigation by The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Coroner’s Office and The Illinois State Police. An autopsy will be conducted on Friday to determine Whites cause of death. Further details will be available at a future date.
