Patricia Hall, age 98, of Salem, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at SIH St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Illinois.

She was born on March 25, 1927, in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, the daughter of R. Vernor Ellis and Nellie (Ping) Ellis. Patricia grew up with strong values that guided her throughout her long and meaningful life.

She met James W. Hall when he returned from World War II in 1945 and on May 26, 1947, Patricia married the love of her life in Morganfield, Kentucky. Together, they built a life centered on hard work, family, and community. Patricia was a devoted wife until James preceded her in death in 2004.  She later moved to Murphysboro, Illinois in 2017 to be near her son, and in 2020 she moved to Voyage Senior Living in Murphysboro.

Patricia was a proud co-owner of Hall’s Grocery Store and the Restwell Motel, where she and her husband served their community with dedication and care for many years. She was known for her strong work ethic, friendly spirit, and the genuine kindness she extended to everyone she met.

She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem for 75 years and attended Murphysboro United Methodist Church after moving to Murphysboro.  She was a life member of Kiwanis International in both Salem and Murphysboro, serving as secretary of the Salem Kiwanis for 18 years and serving as Distinguished Lt. Gov. of Division 33 in the I-I District from 2006-2007.

Patricia is survived by her son, Bob Hall of Murphysboro, Illinois; nieces, Lorna Potter, Beth Peterson, and Terry Maroney; and nephews, John Maroney and Cully Duncan; along with many great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James W. Hall; two special nieces Jody Maroney and Peggy (Duncan) Wood, and nephew, James Randall Duncan.

Graveside services for Patricia Joyce Hall will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem with Rae Delao officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.

Patricia will be remembered for her long life of love, service, and devotion to her family and community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
