JEFFERSON COUNTY/WASHINGTON COUNTY – Three traffic crashes, one being deadly, were reported Saturday on I-64 in Jefferson and Washington counties.
According to Illinois State Police, a two-vehicle injury crash happened around 5:10 a.m. at the eastbound I-64 exit ramp to County Road 600 in Jefferson County. One injury was reported. Lanes were partially blocked, but traffic was able to get through.
Then about an hour later, a one-vehicle fatal crash was reported on westbound I-64 east of U.S. 51 in Washington County. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while the other person was taken to a local hospital.
Then at 7:30 a.m. a three-vehicle crash involving a box truck, a bobtail semi and a passenger vehicle happened on westbound I-64 east of U.S. 51 in Washington County.
Two drivers were taken to a local hospital with injuries.
No further information is available regarding these accidents.
