DU QUOIN – A Du Quoin man was lodged in the Perry County Jail after being accused of severely battering another man and removing personal property from him under the overpass near South Chestnut Street in Du Quoin early Thursday morning.

Du Quoin Police say the man suffered several severe injuries during the incident with 41-year-old John W. Young. Emergency services arrived to treat the victim.

Young was taken into custody, charged with Aggravated Battery and Robbery and taken to jail pending additional court proceedings.
