MOUNT VERNON — Everett Lee Pierce, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:15 am May 21, 2024 at Veterans Nursing Home in Anna, Illinois. He was born September 10, 1940 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Omar and Leila (Gettings)  Pierce.

Everett is survived by his sons, Terry Pierce and wife, Belyn of Mooreville, Mississippi and Tim Pierce and wife, Chaca of Ewing, Illinois; grandchildren, Aaron Pierce and wife, Courtney of Wilson, North Carolina, Andrew Pierce and wife, Ashlan of Tupelo, Mississippi, Adam Pierce and wife, Caroline of Nashville, Tennessee, Sarah Pierce of Nashville, Tennessee, and Daniel Pierce of Ewing, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Nora Pierce, Matthew Pierce, Owen Pierce, and Parker Pierce; sister, LaVonne Oestreich of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and special friend, Carol Lane of Dix, Illinois.

Mr. Pierce proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of First Church of Nazarene. Everett worked for Olsen Magnetic from 1964 to 1970. He then worked for Charles Todd from 1971 to 2005 when he retired. After retirement, Everett worked with Carpenters for Christ.

A Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from Friday, May 24, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home at 601 South 42nd Street in Mount Vernon, Illinois 62864. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Aaron Pierce officiating. Interment will be held at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Everett’s honor to Bridge Builders of the Cross.
