MOUNT VERNON — David  Lipe, 74, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at  May 1, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born March 10, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Raymond “Ray” Lipe and Jewel (Kissel) Lipe. David married Catherine “Cathy” Taylor on June 27, 1970 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2023.

David is survived by Son, Jason Lipe and Mary Hoyt of Kell, Illinois; Daughter, Staci Lipe and special friend Jason Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Grandson, Grant Tobin of Waltonville and fiancee Shayla Sanders; brother-in-law, Dan Taylor and wife Tina of Arlington, Texas.

David was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

David retired as the parts manager for Rush Truck Center formerly Effingham Truck Sales. David was of the Baptist faith and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
