MOUNT VERNON — Donna J. Bryant, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:06 am March 28, 2024 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St.Louis, Missouri. She was born July 29, 1939 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Roy “Buck” C. and Ethel A. (Williams) Greene. Donna married Larry G. Bryant on August 24, 2000 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly fourteen years of marriage before he preceded in death on July 30, 2014.

Donna is survived by her son, Raymond Harris of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Shelley Walker of Dix, Illinois; grandchildren, Bert Walker and wife, Whitney of Belleville, Illinois, Shelbey Albright and husband, Robbie of Marion, Illinois, Colten Walker of Orlando, Florida, and Ryan Harris of Belle Rive, Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Brennon Walker, Wrenley Walker, and Parker Albright.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, Ivan “Tiny”, Leo, Dennis, and Jimmy Greene and former husband, Robert Miller.

Donna was a dispatcher for Elgin Illinois Police Department for thirteen years. She worked at World Color Press and retired from Walgreens. Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon Elks, AMVETS in Mount Vernon, and Moose and VFW in Centralia. She enjoyed going out with friends and playing bridge on Wednesdays. Donna loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren, and cooking. She enjoyed volunteering with Angels on Assignment and was a member of the Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsmen Club.

A Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow at East Hickory Hill Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Donna’s honor to Angels on Assignment.
