
WALNUT HILL — Robert “Rob” C. Mueller, 53, of Walnut Hill, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his home.
He was born January 4, 1969, in Belleville, the son of Ronald C. Mueller and Barbara (Dixon) Mueller. He married Michele Broadwater on March 17, 2001, in Irvington and she survives.
In addition to his mother: Barbara Mueller of Irvington and his wife of 20 years: Michele Mueller of Walnut Hill, he is also survived by his two children: Adam Mueller and Allie Mueller both of Walnut Hill; brother: Matthew Mueller of Centralia; sister: Krista Parrett and husband Jake of Homer, Alaska; two nieces and nephew: Paityn Tabor, Isley Parrett and Logan Mueller; a great-nephew: Beau Mueller; father-in-law: Ron Broadwater and wife Joyce of Walnut Hill; mother-in-law: Pam Rash and husband Charlie of Walnut Hill; sister-in-law: Shannon Tabor and husband Jake of Lake St. Louis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father.
Rob worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 28 years until he retired. He worked his way through the ranks and before he retired he served as the Deputy Director of the Southern Region. He also participated in SORT through the IDOC. In 1994 he received the Correctional Officer of the Year Award and in 2018 he received the Boss of the Year Award. Rob was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, where he served as an Elder. He was a former member of the Police and Fire Commission.
Rob enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, shooting guns with family and friends, fishing and being out at the lake. He had a passion to help anyone and everyone, he never met a stranger. Rob loved his family and he cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial will follow at Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Irvington. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
