Carolyn Kay (KK) Schweda Seats passed over Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the age of 83. She had fought a long hard battle, but her body decided it was time to be at peace.

In February of 1939, Carolyn was born to Anthony Edwin and Dorothy (Perchelski) Schweda who preceded her in death. In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart Jackie Lee Seats (preceding her in death in 2008). Soon after, she went to work at the family business – the Seats Lathing & Plastering Company.

Robert L Seats came into their life in 1961 and brought her much love, pride, and joy. Rob was with her as she peacefully passed over. Rob brought Kimberly J Seats into the family in 1998.

Carolyn’s greatest joy (as anyone who was ever within earshot of her can attest) was her grandson Payton L Seats who joined the Seats family in 2000. She would tell endless stories about Payton to anyone who would listen, and she loved having all sorts of adventures with him. She always spoke about the happiest years of her life was when she and Paw (Jack) got to stay in West Virginia and take care of their young grandson.

Maw (or Crazy Woman as Payton lovingly called her) enjoyed hiking, bicycling (as long as she was headed downhill), going anywhere in West Virginia, making countless gingerbread houses, playing with her grand-dogs Abbott and Costello (both waiting for her over the Rainbow Bridge), riding every carnival ride imaginable with her grandson, being a tourist in all sorts of places, gardening, and talking and dining with friends.

Maw also had endless love for her two sisters – Phyllis Fanger (Gerald), and Sharon Livesay. She enjoyed spending each day with her companion and confidant of 14 years – Tom Holstlaw. They found a new chapter of life with each other after losing a spouse.

Maw had a storied work career: an office manager at Seats L&P, KAS Potato Chips and at various businesses owned by her and Jack, a representative at Feminine Way and Green Thumb, volunteering for Shalom and St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Monica’s Altar Society, and as chair of the Church Finance Committee.

With her passing, she leaves behind a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but thankfully, she also leaves us with a boundless store of memories, moments, and subtle ways we have all become better for having her in our lives. In these things, her many friends and family members will find comfort and solace in the days ahead.

Carolyn’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval, Il. Burial will take place at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery following the service. There will be a gathering to celebrate Carolyn and share memories at the Fellowship Hall of the church after the services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Shalom or St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
