NASHVILLE, IL — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon woman was charged Tuesday in connection with the March 28, 2021, robbery of a Nashville, Illinois liquor store. Michelle Sharp was charged in Washington County Court with Class 2 felony burglary, Class 4 felony conspiracy, and misdemeanor retail theft.

According to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office, Sharp and four juveniles entered the Roll N Up Liquor store in Nashville during business hours and grabbed $853 worth of merchandise, which was mainly liquor and beer, and left without paying. The clerk was able to identify the license plate of the vehicle in which they fled and alerted Nashville police. A short time later, the vehicle was spotted by Mt. Vernon police, but the vehicle fled once again.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department took over the pursuit, which went through Dix before returning to Mt. Vernon. When the vehicle finally stopped in Mt. Vernon, the occupants of the vehicles attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by police and deputies. Three of the four teenage males are from Mt. Vernon, and the fourth is from Ft. Worth, Texas.

Sharp is next due in court February 8 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with her court appointed attorney.
