WAMAC, IL — A slow-speed pursuit Monday night resulted in the arrests of two Centralia men by Wamac police. According to Wamac police, their officer attempted a traffic stop Monday of a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Preston Rinne but Rinne failed to stop and a slow-speed pursuit ensued.

The pursuit ended in the 1600 block of Hester Street when Rinne finally brought his vehicle to a stop, got out and went to the ground. He was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, fleeing or eluding police, and illegal possession of ammunition without a FOID card. Officers reportedly found two 22 caliber rifles along with loose ammunition in the car.

A 22-year-old passenger, Christopher Gallatin, reportedly fled from the vehicle on foot but was ultimately captured by Centralia officers near the U.S. 51 viaduct. He was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and on an outstanding Marion County felony failure to appear warrant for felony driving on a revoked or suspended license.
