Joan Carol Fields, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:03 am July 4, 2021 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. She was born December 23, 1936 in Mount Vernon to the late Henry and Faye (Biggerstaff) Crawford. Joan married James “Hardy” Fields on December 10, 1955 in Benton, Illinois. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 14, 2014.

Joan is survived by her children, Kevin Fields and wife, Cindy of Mount Vernon and Barbara Delaney and husband, Harold of Herrin, Illinois; grandchildren, Josh  Fields, Stephanie Fields, Jamie Delaney-Gann and husband, Justin, Jessie Delaney and fiancé, Jason, and Jodie (Delaney) Hancock and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Brennan White, Lucy Delaney, Miles Bethe, William Hancock, and one expected great-grandchild expected in November; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Crawford; and an infant sister.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon with Mr. Howard J. Kraps officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Joan’s honor to Central Christian Church.
