Esther May (Eyre) Patrick, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, went home to be with her Savior at 5:20 pm May 4, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon. She was born August 8, 1937 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Homer L. and Virgie A. (Wilson) Eyre.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Riley of Davenport, Iowa, Malissa Dahnke and husband, Bryan of Springfield, Illinois; grandsons, Cody Notzke and fiancée, Bailey Martin and Brandon Dahnke both of Effingham, Illinois, William and Ethan Riley both of Davenport, Iowa, Robert Riley and wife, Courtney of New Liberty, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Olivia Riley; twin brother, Lester “Les” Eyre of Plain City, Ohio; brother, Herbert Eyre and wife, Margaret of Scheller, Illinois; sister, Malissa Beaty and husband, Jim of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Schacht and Ginny Smrt.
Esther worked as a telephone operator and retired after thirty-five years of service and she worked as a bus driver for special education in the Barrington Township. After retirement, Esther then became a CNA and provided home health care for the elderly. She was a faithful Christian who attended church regularly and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Danny Jewel officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Esther’s honor to the Patrick Family in care of Malissa Dahnke.
