Jack I. Wylie, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:35 am April 7, 2021 at GreenTree Assisted Living in Mount Vernon. He was born April 8, 1936 in Akron, Ohio to the late Homer and Bessie (Irwin) Wylie. Jack married Octavia Ann (Kelly) Wylie on December 27, 1958 in Akron, Ohio and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2018.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Beth Whittingham and husband, Weston of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons, Mark Wylie of Fairfield, Illinois, Greg Wylie and wife, Dana of Sesser, Illinois, and Jeff Wylie and wife, Amy of Opdyke, Illinois; three grandsons, Ryan Whittingham, Kyle Whittingham, and  Jacob Wylie; two granddaughters, Rachel Wylie and Kristen Wylie; sister, Joyce Berg of Clarksville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Duvall.

Jack worked as a Production Control Manager at Continental Tire for many years until his retirement.  He proudly served in the Ohio National Guard.  Jack was a loving and caring father and grandfather and will be missed by all his family and friends.

A Greeting of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Private Memorial Service will be held. Entombment of his cremated remains will take place at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made in Jack’s honor to GreenTree of Mount Vernon.
