PANA, IL — Illinois State Police say human remains found Saturday in Pana may belong to a missing Carterville man. Agents from ISP’s Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4, local law enforcement agencies, area emergency management officials, and others located human skeletal remains during a search in a field near the 2500 block of East 6th Street Road in Pana.

ISP says the skeletal remains were found in an area to the northeast of the last known location of Daniel Crosby beyond areas that had previously been searched. Family and friends of Daniel Crosby have not had any contact with him since February 27th, 2020 when he was in Pana. Crosby was reported missing to the Carterville Police Department on March 18th, 2020. No identification has been made at this time. Identification will require additional forensic review. Preliminary evaluation of the skeletal remains revealed no obvious signs of trauma.
