Charles Elbert McKinney, 79, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 12:31 pm February 6, 2021 at his residence in Dix. He was born May 9, 1941 in McLeansboro, Illinois to the late Loren Allen McKinney and Eleanor Maude (Williams) McKinney. Charles married Betty (Loss) McKinney on April 17, 1982.

 

In addition to his loving wife of nearly thirty-nine years, Charles is survived by his daughters, Eleanor Saboff and husband, Ben of Moro, Illinois, Terri Pajares and husband, Robert of Metarie, Louisiana, Tammy Chase and husband, Barry of Gretna, Nebraska; grandsons, Nicholas, Nathan, Josh, and Sheldon; granddaughters, Alex, Nicole, Sam, Kaydence, Noelle, and Abagail; sisters, Loretta DeBoer and husband, Roy of Frostproof, Florida, Linda SanJuan and husband, Ralph of Olathe, Kansas; and brother, Loren Allen McKinney and wife, Sylvia of Mount Vernon, Illinois.

 

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by daughter, Amanda McKinney; sister, Eleanor Sue Marshal; and niece, Melinda Marshel.

 

Mr. McKinney proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. Charles was of the Christian faith and loved his family.

 

A Visitation will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Full Military Rites will be held by American Legion Post #141 at the cemetery. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Charles’s honor to the McKinney family in care of Eleanor Saboff.
