Centralia Family Video to Close, Being Replaced by Dollar General

CENTRALIA — The Family Video in Centralia is closing to make way for a new Dollar General.

With streaming hotshots like Netflix and Hulu shaping the industry, many lament the loss of video rental shops. But Family Video is doing just fine — according to management, anyway.

Dollar General is leasing about 40 different Family Video stores out of 700 across multiple states, Family Video say, and is reviewing an opportunity to add another location in Centralia.

Currently Dollar General operates two locations in Centralia and one in Central City. A final decision on taking over the East Noleman location should be made within a few weeks.

A new Dollar General would employ approximately 6 to 10 people, depending on the specific needs of the store.
