Thelma L. Martin, 93, of South Carolina, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:45 pm March 31, 2020 at her daughter’s residence in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She was born April 22, 1926 in Mt. Vernon to the late Texal and Rebecca (Donoho) White. Thelma married Joseph E. Martin on June 2, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, who later served as mayor of Mt. Vernon from 1965 to 1969. They were blessed with fifty-one years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 22, 1997.

A Private Family Service will be held. Interment will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Thelma’s honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and American Heart Association.
