MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon Police believe the Fifth Third Bank may have been a victim Monday of a serial bank robber who has struck banks in multiple other states.

Video surveillance from the Fifth Third Bank reportedly shows a white male who resembles the suspect in bank robberies in Tennessee and North Carolina, who also did not cover his face during the robberies.

Mt. Vernon police, who are working with the FBI on the case, say the robber did not display or imply he had a weapon when he demanded money from the clerk.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot to the southeast of the bank and was not spotted again.

There were customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
