MT. VERNON — A new year does not necessarily mean all new issues for the Mt. Vernon City Council as the Route 15 Overpass Project was brought up again towards the end of the first meeting of 2019.

The motion to direct the City Manager to create a resolution regarding prioritization of the project was made by Councilman Jim Rippy, but not seconded by anyone in the council.

A citizen then stepped forward to question the reasoning behind no second on that motion.

Mayor John Lewis…

A Route 15 committee member, Jerry Shaw provided the final request of the council that would in turn end discussion on the issue.

The next city council meeting will be held at 7pm on Tuesday January 22nd as they are observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day that Monday.
