Noel “Bub” Kermit Ellis, 82, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 6:45 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at his home.
He was born Wednesday, November 11, 1936, in Jefferson County, the son of James Earl and Lola Belle (Cooper) Ellis. He served in the United States Army for two years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Although Noel never had children, he was like a father to several nieces and nephews, especially to the Padget Family. He was always willing to help everyone. He enjoyed traveling and hiking with Steve and Donna Padget. Noel worked at the Grain Elevator in Dix, in earlier years, then worked at Napa Distribution Center, and took early retirement to care for his mother.
He is survived by one brother, Kenneth Ellis and wife Ann of Mt. Vernon; one sister-in-law, Berneita Ellis; and many nieces and nephews, Steve Padget and wife Donna, Ann Padget, Susan Bevis and husband Scott, David Padget and wife Tina, Jackie Swarm, Marsha Stultz and husband Henry, John Padget and wife Deen, Marilyn Anderson and husband Duane, Susan Ellis-Smith, Larry Ellis and wife Cyndy, Melinda Adams and husband Charlie, Debra Ellis, Kenneth Ellis and wife Lynne, and Vicki Huston and husband Junior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Ellis; two brothers, Keith Ellis and Carl Ellis; two sisters, Oleta Swarm and Bonitna Voyles; and two nephews, Mark Ellis, and Bobby Lee Swarm.
Funeral services for Mr. Ellis will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Osborn Funeral Home, with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #141, of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held Friday, December 28, 2018, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
