HARRISBURG — At a special Harrisburg City Council meeting, the Council announced that a new chief of police will be taking over at the end of the week. David Morris will retire effective Friday, as Assistant Chief of Police Michael Riden will take over on an interim basis. The Council said they will now start a search for a permanent Chief of Police and hope to fill that position by the end of February. The Harrisburg Register reports that Morris will beginning working for Harrisburg Unit 3 schools on Monday, December 3rd as a unit resource officer.
