Rodney Earl Wert, 69, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:35 A.M. August 15, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born April 12, 1949 in Centralia, Illinois to Harold Wert and Millicent Boles. He married Roseanne L. Cross on July 28, 1966 in Centralia, Illinois. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage until he preceded her in death.

In addition to his wife, Rodney is survived by his sons, Roger C. Wert of El Paso, Texas, and Kris Wert of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughters, Sheryl Boyd of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Wendy Denzler and significant other, Rick Blake of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, David Boyd, Gunner Wert, Paige Silliman, and Skyler Wert; four great grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Wert and significant other, Fran of Centralia, Illinois; sister, Velva Wilson of Centralia, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews also survive.\

Rodney Earl Wert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Carl Wert; and sister-in-law, Beverly Wert.

Rodney sang in several different Barbershop Quartet groups including Okaw Valley, Centralia, Mount Vernon, Harrisburg, and Waterloo. He loved to go fishing and was a member of the West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
