Joyce E. Gray, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:50 A.M.June 19, 2018 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born April 18, 1928 in Jefferson County, Illinois to Reed Gowler and Anita Loarts. She married Benjamin Gray on March 15, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on July 23, 1989.

She is survived by her 3 sons, David Gray of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Steve Gray of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Scott Gray and wife, Cathy of Overland Park, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 sister, Kay McElvain and husband, Jimmy of Santa Clarita, California; 2 nieces; and several great gran nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Darrell Gray; grandson, Stevie Gray; and granddaughter, Ashley Gray.

Joyce was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She loved her flower garden and was an avid reader. Joyce was a great cook and was always very kind and gentle to everyone around her. She loved her family and loved spending time with them. Joyce will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Lifeservice will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Mount Vernon AMVETS. Memorials: SSM Health at Home Hospice
