April Mae Akers, 48, of Belle Rive, Illinois passed away at 9:56 P.M.June 16, 2018 at her residence in Belle Rive, Illinois. She was born November 25, 1969 in Joliet, Illinois to John and Juanita (Benegas) Murphy. She married Harold Douglas Akers on October 17, 1998 in Dyer, Indiana.

April is survived by her mother, Juanita Murphy of Nason, Illinois; husband, Harold Douglas “Doug” Akers of Belle Rive, Illinois; five children, Ashley Carter and husband Jason of Romeoville, Illinois, Sarah Akers of Romeoville, Illinois, Douglas Akers of Belle Rive, Illinois, Christien Akers of Belle Rive, Illinois, and Paige Akers Showers and husband Gage of Belle Rive, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kimberly Carter, Wyatt Akers, Zoey Akers, and Athena Mae Akers; sister, AleashaWilkey and husband Sean of Dix, Illinois; two brothers, Mike Murphy and wife Michelle of Lockport, Illinois and Jim Murphy and wife Michelle of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Akers was preceded in death by her father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

April worked as a cook for McClellan School and was a member of Harlan Road Church of God.  She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Harlan Road Church of God in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Douglas Bowers officiating.  Memorials: Harlan Road Church of God.
