Helen E. Smith, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away May 25, 2018 at her residence.She was born September 19, 1931 in Marion County to the late Lyal and Lucille E. (Totten) Sands. Helen married Gail L. Smith on April 29, 1951 in Jefferson County. They were blessed with nearly 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 10, 1999.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Michael Sheets officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Rural Mount Vernon.
