Gladys LaVerne Creel, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:56 P.M.April 16, 2018 at Nature Trail Health Care Center.Shewas bornSeptember 2, 1929 in DuQuoin, Illinois to the late Arthur and Viola (Dintelman) Miller. LaVerne married William Newton “Newt” Creel on June 16, 1951 in DuBois, Illinois. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 3, 2002.

A Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Jamie Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in LaVerne’s honor to Mount Vernon Rams Athletics.
