Protesters gathered outside Centralia City Hall during Monday night’s council meeting to call attention to the unsolved August 2015 murder of Dustin Rhynes.

Demonstrators have gathered every few months since Rhynes death to demand “Justice for Dustin.”

Rhynes was discovered deceased August 24, 2015, in a neighborhood alleyway in Centralia’s northeast side.

A man who was reportedly with Dustin at the time of the shooting was also shot, but managed to run from the scene and seek help at Fireside Nursing Home where employees called for an ambulance that took him to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

While protestors are demonstrating outside Centralia City Hall and are asking Centralia police to crack down on the situation and to further investigate his Rhynes’ death the case is actually being investigated by the Illinois State Police.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Rhynes’ death.
