Customers who get their water from Rend Lake will be paying a little bit more for it.

The Rend Lake Conservancy District Monday voted to raise water rates by 2.5%.

Officials say the increase will only be on the Rend Lake portion of the bill. Customers will potentially be paying an extra 23 cents per month for water. This increase will give the district the room it needs to finish repairs.

Officials plan to pay for the repairs as they go and not burden future generations with the district’s debt.
