Herrin Police continue to investigate a complaint they got Friday night about a 12-year-old girl threatening several other girls at Snow Power.

Police say the girl was reported to have displayed a handgun at the time the threats were made.

Herrin officers immediately went to the business and found it closed. They were unable to get any surveillance footage at the time of the report.

After their investigation, police determined the girl with the reported handgun lived in West Frankfort. Herrin Police made a request to West  Frankfort Police to contact the girl, which they did, and recovered a toy handgun.

Herrin Police also learned that the girl made additional posts on social media and determined the reported incident was part of an ongoing dispute between her and  the other girls.

Herrin school officials were notified about the incident, which remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office.
A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning claimed the life of a 21-year-old man in Franklin County.
