George E. Puckett, Sr., 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:41 P.M.January 9, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was bornAugust 29, 1930 in McClellan Township of Jefferson County, Illinois to Arthur L. & Susie (Earls) Puckett. He married Reba Austin on June 12, 1951 in Jefferson County, Illinois and they were blessed with 66 years together.

A visitation will be held from11:00 A.M. until funeral service time: 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 12, 2018 at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinoiswith Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment: South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Hickory Hill Cemetery.
