MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Township High School Board of Education will begin a search for an administrator after accepting the resignation of Assistant Principal Travis Schmale on Wednesday.

Schmale’s resignation will take effect on Jan. 1. and has accepted the Principal position at Breese Elementary School.

The board is also still seeking a full-time superintendent.

The board also accepted the resignation of Band Director Chris Roode effective Jan. 2. Roode is moving out of state.

In other business the board approved a contract with Baysinger, Inc. for architectural services for the proposed maintenance building. The district hopes the total cost of a maintenance building will be far less of earlier estimates in the range of $900,000 to $1 million.
