Carbondale Police responded to the 500 block of South Ash Street in  reference to a gunshot victim early Saturday morning.

Around 3:20 a.m., police met with the victim who had a possible life  threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a St. Louis area  hospital. The victim is not being identified at this time as this is  an active investigation. Police say there is not any information on  the suspect at this time.
