George Harry Bryant, Sr., 88 years old, of Mt. Vernon passed away 11:10 P.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  George was born on March 14, 1929, in Mount Vernon, son of James Olin Bryant and Agnes Mable (Meyer) Bryant.  He married Virginia B. Vursell on March 13, 1955 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 26, 1999.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Jesse Hinds officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct Full Military Honors at the cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
