The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) would like to alert motorists traveling on Interstate 57 in Williamson County of an upcoming road closure.

Beginning at 7 p.m. TONIGHT, I-57 northbound at milepost 45 will be closed. Additionally, the Illinois 148 northbound on-ramp will also be closed.

The closure is expected to last until midnight and is necessary to perform emergency patching in the active lane of traffic.

All traffic will be diverted to an alternate route using Illinois 148 northbound to Illinois 13 eastbound and back onto the I-57 northbound at Marion.

Motorists should seek an alternate route. The Illinois State Police will be on site to direct motorists and detour signing of the alternate route will be in place.
