DU QUOIN — Illinois State Police released July activity and enforcement figures Thursday evening.

ISP Troopers in the seven-county district answered 288 calls for service and initiated 2,025 incidents in the field during the month. July saw 849 citations and 1,152 written warnings, including 477 speeding citations, 10 DUIs, 34 seatbelt citations, 1 child restraint citation, 499 written warnings for speeding, and 16 criminal arrests.

Troopers also assisted 292 motorists, conducted 244 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 72 traffic crashes with 6 of those suffering fatalities.

During the month, 541 citations and 605 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations.  These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving.
