(VANDALIA, IL) — The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake was registered Saturday afternoon about 10 miles southwest of Vandalia.  The earthquake measured just 3.1 magnitude, but some people in the area reported feeling the quake around 1:07 p.m. Saturday.  There have been no reports of injuries or damage from the quake but at that magnitude an earthquake is considered minor and rarely causes anything but minor damage. According to the USGS, approximately 30,000 earthquakes of that magnitude are registered each year.
