(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has been notified of a new scam. According to a post on their Facebook page, a caller stated she received a call from a male subject stating he was with Dish Network and told her that her receiver was bad and she needed a new one. The male on the phone gave the caller a phone number of 818-900-9962 to call him back. The caller also advised JCSO that the male had some of her information and knew about the caller’s subscription package with Dish Network. Dish Network has stated they only do business by mail and will not call on the phone. If you get any calls like this please be aware it is a scam.
