(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 59-year-old Ina man has been sentenced in Jefferson County court to 5-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one of the lesser meth-related charges against him. Rodney D. Howard was initially charged in May 2015, with two Class X counts of aggravated manufacture of between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine with a child present, Class 2 felony possession of meth manufacturing material and Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of meth precursors, as well as Class 1 felony manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth. He pleaded guilty in October to the Class 1 felony charge and in addition to receiving the 5-year prison sentence is ordered to serve 2-years mandatory supervised release at the end of his sentence as well as pay court costs and a $2,000 mandatory drug assessment. Howard was arrested in this case after deputies responded to a home in Bonnie on reference to possible meth manufacturing.
