Arlene Austin, 73, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:29 A.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born Monday, April 26, 1943 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to parents, James Elmo and Rosa Birdell (Tate) Scott.  She married Owen Austin on March 4, 1961 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 56 years of marriage. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating.  Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  For those who wish, memorials may be given to the East Salem Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
