(MT. VERNON, IL) — There will be a Public Input Meeting at the new Mt Vernon Township High School Theater, but the scheduled time announced Monday for Wednesday, February 8 at 6:30pm has already been postponed until further notice.  The meeting was suggested by concerned citizen, Randy Olson, and agreed upon by Superintendent Mike Smith, and members of the board. The meeting to discuss several questions and concerns at the high school, was postponed late in the afternoon hours Monday without reason given.  This is not to be a regular board meeting, but rather a public forum designed to get answers to many questions and concerns that have been raised by the public, including the faculty. Olson will be the moderator and will ask the majority of the questions in order to facilitate an orderly discussion, although additional questions can be written down on cards and submitted that evening. The questions will cover a variety of topics including teacher morale & relationship with the staff, relationship with the community, finances of the school, facilities and resources within the school, curriculum, and other questions pertaining to operations. While Olson is certain that not all questions can be covered or answered in one evening, the plan is to spend about two hours working through many of the concerns at the school during this Public Input Meeting. Olson indicated he and Smith are attempting to find a route to amicably prepare for the meeting in the way the questions are presented and topics discussed and currently are not in agreement on the terms.
