(HENDERSON, KY) — A 20-year-old Centralia man is in a Kentucky jail on charges stemming from a police pursuit associated with the shooting deaths of two men. According to the Henderson, Kentucky Gleaner, Joevionte Simms, of Centralia, was arrested Friday with 19-year-old Clarence Smith, of Danville, on charges of wanton endangerment of a police officer, resisting arrest and fleeing or evading the police, in relation to the police pursuit. Smith was additionally charged with reckless driving, disregarding a traffic signal and possession of marijuana. Neither have been charged with murder at this time. A third man was arrested early Saturday morning in connection with the pursuit, but authorities are not saying if he is linked directly with the Friday shooting in Morganfield of 33-year-old Caesarrae Rapier, and 28-year-old George Black, Jr. Autopsies of both men were scheduled for Saturday. Sims, who is awaiting prosecution in Marion County for felony possession of a controlled substance, has also reported living in Danville and Chicago.
