(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 42-year-old Ohio man was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Jason Michael of Camden, Ohio, was arrested October 7, 2016, by Mt. Vernon police responding to a retail theft report. Michael was arrested in that incident for driving while license suspended. After searching his vehicle, however, he was also charged with possessing between 5 and 15 grams of meth, to which he pleaded guilty yesterday. His wife, 45-year-old Bobbie Joe Michael was initially arrested for alleged retail theft but was additionally charged later with unlawful possession of meth, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She’s scheduled next in court on January 18 for a pre-trial hearing in her case.
