(CENTRALIA, IL) — A report last week of a Norfolk Southern freight train being fired upon in Centralia resulted in the arrests of two 13-year-old Centralia boys. According to Centralia police they received a report from the train’s crew last week that the windows of their locomotive had been shot out near the 14th and Locust Street crossings. The two boys were ultimately caught and both have been charged with criminal damage to property and reckless conduct, while only one was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. They were released to their parents. No injuries were reported and the train stopped after the shots were fired to allow police to investigate. Witnesses were able to direct officers to where the two teens had gone following the alleged incident.
