(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 34-year-old Ina woman was sentenced Wednesday in Jefferson County court to 18-years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a meth-related felony. Amber Howard was charged with Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of meth, Class X felony aggravated manufacture of more than 400 grams of methamphetamine with a child present, and Class X felony participation in the manufacture of between 400 and 900 grams of meth. Howard pleaded guilty Wednesday to the participation charge in exchange for the other two charges being dismissed. Howard was arrested Nov. 29 after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High-Risk Team executed a search warrant at her home in Ina, and reportedly recovered meth, meth manufacturing supplies, a firearm, ammunition, and drug equipment. Howard was arrested along with 52-year-old Kenneth Bressler, and a 16-year-old juvenile male. Bressler’s appeared in court Thursday and is next scheduled to appear January 3, for a pre-trial hearing on the charges against him. Howard has numerous previous felony convictions, including one in August for possession of less than 5-grams of meth. She was on probation in that case when the HRT executed the search warrant on her home last month.
