(BENTON, IL) — A Benton man was taken into custody Tuesday night following a two hour manhunt. Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says 36-year-old Keith A. Dunagan was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Dunagan was wanted for felony retail theft and obstructing a police officer and had been the subject of an attempt to locate for several days. He is also a suspect in several other crimes. Jones says Dunagan was seen around 4 p.m. Tuesday in a field north of Heritage Woods on the northeast side of Benton and then fled into a wooded area. Sheriff’s deputies and K-9 along with Benton and West City officers conducted a search. They eventually found Dunagan in an attic crawl space where he had fled and hid himself. He surrendered when the K-9 was deployed. Dunagan is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
