(MT. VERNON, IL) — Election Night has come and gone for 2016.  Of the 24,171 registered voters in Jefferson County, 17,158 cast a ballot for a 71% turnout. In the local races, Republican Randy Pollard defeated his Democratic challenger Nick Lemay for the Circuit Clerk seat by nearly 4,000 votes.  Roger Hayse was elected as the new County Coroner in a race over Christine Hayes by nearly 2,500 votes. In County Board races, Timothy Marlow took 72% of the votes in District 4 over Dwight Timmons and Wayne Hicks won a close race over Edward Rohlfs in District 12. Questions on the ballot locally were pertaining to the Village of Dix being authorized a non-home rule retailers’ occupation tax and non-home rule service occupation tax of 1%, which passed, and pertaining to Webber Township disconnecting from the C.E.
