(INA, IL) — A fatal crash happened around 2:35 Wednesday morning on I-57 just north of Ina. According to Illinois State Police, an SUV, driven by 44-year-old Clifford Foster of Knoxville, Tennessee, was going north on I-57 north of milepost 85 when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer standing in the roadway and struck a guardrail. Foster’s car then traveled across both northbound lanes and struck the right guardrail. The car then traveled back across both northbound lanes and overturned several times while entering the center median. The car came to rest in the median against the I-57 southbound guardrail. Foster suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Thirty-three-year-old Kimberly S. Martin and 31-year-old Sherrie R. Webber, both of Knoxville, Tennessee, suffered fatal injuries and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Thirty-three-year-old Shala L. Martin of Maryville, Tennessee, suffered incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. She was later flown to a regional hospital. 29-year-old Shawn M. Martin of Wichita, Kansas, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.  The left lane of southbound I-57 was closed for about four hours for crash scene investigation and cleanup. Charges are pending investigation.
