(CENTRALIA, IL) — Charges against a 24-year-old Centralia man are on hold, as the state asks Centralia police to further investigate a reported armed home invasion last week. Shaundre Pickett was arrested Sunday in connection with a reported incident at a home Thursday morning on McKee Street. A female resident of the home reported to police that three armed men with masks entered her home and stole money and jewelry. A witness in the home later identified Pickett as one of the three men involved in the robbery. But Pickett claims he was not involved. He tells police the alleged victim invited her to the home Sunday and he went to explain to her that he was not involved. While not charged at this time in connection with the armed robbery, Pickett remains in the Marion County Jail on an outstanding Cook County warrant stemming from a 2014 charge of possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number. The Centralia case remains under investigation and police continue to search for the other two suspects reportedly involved in Thursday’s incident.
