(MT. VERNON, IL) — On Wednesday, members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team executed a search warrant at 208 S 2nd Street, in Mt. Vernon. Both residents, Charles Bird and Tina Bird, were found inside the residence. The search warrant was obtained through an investigation conducted by the MVPD / JCSO Narcotics Division, with the assistance of the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s office. The warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Barry Vaughn. The investigation indicated that methamphetamine was being manufactured at the residence. A search of the residence revealed waste from methamphetamine production, materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, and drug equipment with methamphetamine residue. Thirty-four year old Charles Bird was charged with Methamphetamine Manufacturing, Improper Disposal of Meth, Manufacturing Waste, Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Equipment. Charles Bird’s bond is to be set by a judge. Forty-seven year old Tina Bird was charged with Methamphetamine Manufacturing, Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Equipment. Tina Bird’s bond is to be set by a judge. In addition to the Meth related charges, Tina Bird was arrested on an unrelated outstanding Jefferson County Probation Violation warrant. Charles and Tina Bird are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
